I think there is a fundamental difference in the way nanopublishing companies such as ours (socialmedia group) approach the "media". As far as we are concerned, blogs are just a very efficient way of publishing, both from an editorial and technical standpoint. It allows us to have contributors publishing remotely (as far as Japan on Le blog auto) and instantaneously, whether using the platform or directly through moblogging. Technically, bogs are great in the way they are built and referenced by the major search engines.
The whole platform gives us an enormous amount of freedom and promotes cost efficient publishing. It is a different approach fr'om traditional media in the way that information tends to be filtered by readers instead of a standard publishing process. But all in all there's nothing preventing bloggers from doing a professional job, as good and thorough for some of them as many journalists from the traditional media. Christophe,
Thank you for your insight into how your organization is using blogs to publish efficiently (and I trust, profitably). I'm curious about the term "nanopublishing." I have seen it turning up more recently. Does "nano" mean it's smaller than "micropublishing," the term that seemed more common ages ago (say, last month)? Or has nano become the preferred prefix because it sounds more 21st century? Thanks again for your adding to the dialog. My question is not intended to make light of your contribution. I'm just curious about how words come into comon usage. Don Dunnington President, IAOC Re: Blogging Europe Day 1: Blogs and Journalism

I think actually the term nanopublishing is misused and often misunderstood. Certainly misused in our case... As far as I know it simply refers to the ability blogs have in generating media around very vertical topics... i.e. somebody writing about a product such as the treonaut as opposed to another media writing about PDAs or technology in general or somedy else writing about their cat, which has to be said applies to other media in the same way... I guess a blog makes this process very simple and accessible to all.
In our case, I suppose it is simply publishing Best Christophe Trackbacks
