Gwendolynn is on the road and asked me to post this look inside her RSS feedbag:
I guess it's time to open up Gwendolynn's Box (I've been told it's more dangerous than Pandora's), and share some of my feeds.
I've found that I use the RSS feeds to keep up with work related things, but since I'm always working anyway, they are really helpful and fun in the non-work sphere.
I subscribe to a few things for news, because I don't watch TV: I get CNN top stories and the New York Times. I deleted Salon, because it's become one more political soap box, and I see enough of that in the Times.
I love arts news - and my favorite is the ArtsJournal - they often have great arts headlines that make me laugh.
Workwise - I could subscribe to a zillion things trying to stay on top of all the new info for internet communicators and marketers, but then I'd read nothing - so I stick to a few tidbits, like Wired News (also getting too political!!), New York Times Technology, Seth Goldin, Blog Business World, and a new one - The Business Week Online Blogspotting feed.
If I'm up to date with work, then I read the fun stuff. I get Reuters: Oddly Enough, which is a collection of strange news from around the world. The headlines are a scream "Albatross Migration attracts celebritites...." and such things.
She StylePhile comes from LA and lets me know where all the cool shopping is, and where and when the sample sales are. Now THIS is valuable information. I'm embarassed to admit that I like a blog called Purseuing - the purse and bag blog. Okay, not THAT embarassed, but it's all about... purses. I usually read that one first!
I do have this soft spot for strange world news, and you can find some good stuff at Weird Spot.com and Exploding Cigar.com.
I'll admit to one more - even though it proves beyond any doubt that I'm firmly ensconced in geek-land. I read Linguistics blogs. Yes, there are actually Linguistics blogs. Linguistics.it/rss.xml; and the Linguistic Life at http://linguisticlife.blogspot.com.
And on it goes. I refuse to confirm or deny rumors that I have simpsons clips, sweet and mushy quote of the day or any other such feeds delivered directly to my desktop.
What's on yours?
