Steve, I'm gonna go through your questions tomorrow. I'll also post some outtakes from what I think are cool IBM podcasts - both internal and external - so you can get a flavor of what we're all up to.

Those are some massively-awesome illustrations on your gaming feature -- very smooth operation of all menus, multimedia, and slide shows. This is all done in Flash -- yes? I'm going to guess it was designed by you? Ray Kurzweil maybe? Steven Spielberg???

Killer Question: Don't you think podcasts are just an interim technology, used largely because video is still difficult to produce well for the web? Podcast is to Videocast as Gopher is to World Wide Web?

Yes, all in flash, Steve. A few months back, our comms and marketing groups asked me to put together a new content strategy for the homepage, migrating us from a sales & marketing channel paradigm (we sold the laptop business to Lenovo, so people shop a lot less at ibm.com) to corporate brand support and thought-leadership marketing.

I've been taking inspiration from some of the multimedia features that newspapers like the New York Times and the Wall Street Journal put together for their websites - rich in information (text, photos, audio), interactive and immersive. Glad you like the result - and, no, it wasn't all me :) All done in-house by a very talented team of IBM web designers, copy writers and flash engineers.

Is audio podcasting an interim technology? Was radio? No. Radio is hugely popular, despite the arrival of TV, video, the cinema, the web and all the other choices we have as modern media consumers.

Audio podcasting will live on in the niches it's good at - talk and music, just like radio.
