The class is reading about typefaces this week. There is an interesting Israeli article interviewing a famous Hebrew font designer. Oded Ezer: The Typographer's Guide to the Galazy will be published next month.
What I found most interesting is Mr. Ezer's remarks about most of the fonts used for English. He claimed the fonts were banal because, "...at its core it's based on the fundamental shapes - circle, square, triangle."
I can't help but think he has a point there. Those of us who aren't visual artists may not appreciate his perceptions of typefaces, however, if I were to put myself in his shoes, I can see what he means.
I wish I had the tools to illustrate the basic differences between the two.
